I found that there were times when I liked the higher risk of playing a few hands per conflict. And others when one would suffice. It's just something that players and dealer should be aware of.

We play that each Deal is going to resolve the entire conflict. So we roleplay up to the point of tension, establish our desired outcomes, do the Deal, then roleplay the conclusion.

Worked well. I'm saving most of my thoughts on chargen and mechanics for the final review. I loved it. The biggest problem we faced was how broad a conflict should be. For instance in the fight in the Star Saloon, we actually played through three conflicts as peoples goals shifted. We were probably too specific in stating goals. But it didn't feel appropriate to have the entire conflict for the scene resolved with a single poker hand. It's a fine line that I believe each group would do well to discuss before hand. In Duty and Honour (Beat To Quarters) it explicitly states that conflicts are resolved on a single draw. the entire shoot out or fist fight. Dust Devils isn't that specific.

How did the Dust Devil mechanics work out for you in play? What did the players think? Sounds like the story moved along and a lot of interesting conflict happened.
